Our Sod Selection
All sod is grown in Florida, cut fresh, and delivered or installed within 24 hours of harvest. We carry the varieties that thrive in Gainesville’s climate.
St. Augustine (Floratam)
The #1 choice in North Florida. Floratam produces a thick, lush carpet that handles heat and humidity beautifully. Best for moderate to full sun. Excellent salt tolerance for coastal areas.
Zoysia (Empire & Emerald)
Dense, slow-growing, and drought-resistant once established. Empire Zoysia handles foot traffic well — great for families. Emerald is finer-textured and ideal for showcase lawns.
Bermuda (Common & Hybrid)
The toughest, fastest-establishing sod we carry. Bermuda thrives in full sun and bounces back quickly from wear. Ideal for sports fields, high-traffic yards, and acreage.
Centipede
A low-maintenance choice for low-fertility soils. Centipede requires minimal fertilizer and grows slowly — meaning less mowing. Thrives in partial shade and acidic sandy soils common in Alachua County.
Bahia (Pensacola & Argentine)
The most drought-tolerant option. Once established, Bahia needs very little water or input. Pensacola is the standard; Argentine produces a darker green and denser stand.
Shade-Tolerant Blends
For yards with 40–60% shade cover. Our shade blend combines St. Augustine cultivars selected for tolerance of low-light conditions without sacrificing density.
How to Choose the Right Sod
Consider Sun Exposure
Full sun (6+ hrs): Bermuda or Floratam
Partial shade (3–6 hrs): Zoysia or St. Augustine
Heavy shade (<3 hrs): Shade-tolerant St. Augustine blend
Consider Maintenance Level
Low maintenance: Centipede or Bahia
Medium maintenance: St. Augustine (Floratam)
Higher maintenance: Bermuda hybrid (requires frequent mowing)
